A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. "Sheila is going to the store. She is going to buy milk." In this example, the word "she" has taken the place of "Sheila." Common pronouns include I, you, he, she, it, we, they, me, him, her, it, us, and them. Write the following sentences and challenge students to substitute each pronoun with names of students from your class. I am going to the circus. You will go with me. He will see the elephants. She will get to ride an elephant. It is very old and large. They will get to eat some popcorn. He and I will watch the bears ride the bicycles. The bears will right straight at him. I will be scared when I see her fall from the trapeze. It will make her scream. He loves to see all of them at the circus.
