Learn how many Christmas traditions began by reading this non-fiction text. Traditions include Christmas Cards, the use of tinsel and mistletoe, the first Christmas tree, exchanging gifts, reindeer, and gingerbread. Also included are activities that go along with each tradition that can be completed in class.

Teaching Tips

Cut tradition descriptions out and glue them on large index cards. On the back of the index card glue the activity that went along with that specific tradition. Create a holiday center were students can learn more about the traditions of Christmas.
