Offer students a poem to accompany this graphic organizer, which aims to strengthen reading comprehension especially with difficult verse. By writing down sentences or phrases that they don't understand, then talking with a partner or small group about them, students will increase their comprehension skills. Make sure students write down their understanding in their own words.

Use this resource on your interactive whiteboard.
- Use this organizer to model how to take a line from a story or nonfiction text the students would like to use in a report and write it in their own words.
- Fill in megaphone with a line from a book and as a whole class discuss what the line means, or how they might put it in their own words. Have student volunteers to write their own on the whiteboard.
