To introduce this organizer, have all students use the same word list for a particular setting. Later, they can generate their own lists based on the stories they read.
Use this resource on your interactive whiteboard.
- Model how to complete the organizer by filling in the information about the setting of a read aloud book with the class.
- Before starting a new read aloud or guided reading story, fill in word clues that match the setting of the story. Students can then infer the time period or place in which the story takes place.
- Use this organizer as an end of a story review. Fill in some setting word clues that fit the story and others that do not. Have students choose the words that fit the story and drag them into the bottom box.
