Nature is full of cyclical patterns, from the four seasons to the life cycle of a frog. Here, children can build a model of a cyclical pattern that will help them visualize its repetitive, endless quality.

Teaching Tips

Brainstorm some other circular (cyclical) patterns in nature: day and night, the 4 stages of a butterfly (egg to larva to pupa to butterfly), the 4 stages of a frog (egg, tadpole, tadpole with back legs, frog), the 8 phases of the moon. Some children may want to make a second spinner.
